Message from our partners in Haiti

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Carwyn, myself and all the staff at House of Blessings are ok. The earthquake hit in Port au Prince, the capital city of Haiti. Cap-Haitien is in the north of the island and thankfully our building, staff and children have been unaffected. However, in Haiti all commerce and business happen through Port au Prince and 1/5 of all Haitians live in the capital. All our staff without exception have loved ones in Port au Prince and due to lack of communications are frantic to hear news of their loved ones.

Port au Prince is densly populated, mostly filled with shanty towns. As we have heard, even many of the larger buildings have been destroyed, so it's fair to assume the smaller shacks, simply constructed from old materials people can find lying around, have been utterly obliterated. Life in Haiti is hard enough already for children, who struggle to eat and basic needs such as education and health can be difficult to access. Now this earthquake has hit, the children will be the first ones to suffer. The street children who have no one to care for them will be hit first and are the most vulnerable in a time of panic and lawlessness. Clean water and food are scarce as well as many of the services, homes and orphanages that help care for them have been destroyed. The children are left to try and fend for themselves in this desperate situation.

These children need your prayers and your support. Please donate >>
