BURMA: Emergency Appeal for Cyclone Nargis
![]() On 2nd May 2008, the horrific cyclone Nargis crashed through the South of Burma killing thousands of people instantly. Hundreds of thousands were made homeless after entire villages were swept away. | |
Our project partners in Burma were already in place when the cyclone hit to start delivering aid to survivors immediately. We are so grateful to Virgin Atlantic who ran an appeal for us and raised a staggering £29,000 for the relief work. This went towards buying boats to reach those marooned by the devastation and aid packages including water purification kits, temporary shelter tents and medicines as well as the essential food rations. Vital Funds In Early StagesIn the initial stages we sent funds to provide food, medication, bottled water and clothing for the survivors. The long term plans provided machinery to start clearing all the debris to make way for building new homes. Join our fight for justice... Donate now >> |
